While mopeds provide reasonable weather protection for legs the same cannot be said for the rest of a riders body. A wet rider is often an uncomfortable one and the value of a good set of waterproofs can never be underestimated.

Today waterproofs are made using modern synthetics which mean they are both waterproof and breathable. This is a real highlight over previous generation waterproofs as they often caused riders to sweat. Having said that the latest generation of waterproofs offer both good protection from the cold while not causing you to sweat. This makes them ideal for long distance (every day) use. Many also come with reflective markings for added safety.

Things To Look For:

When buying waterproofs for your moped or motorbike there are number of things you will want to consider. The first thing you will want to do is to check whether the seams are taped on the inside or not. If they are then this is a good thing as it helps to keep the rain out. You will also want to look at the zips. These should have velcro flap overlays to prevent water getting through the closures. Having said that these should be big enough to be able to quickly access your things.

When buying any type of clothing the main consideration is fit. With waterproofs you will want a size that will fit comfortably over your usual riding gear and does not restrict your movement. Having said this, you don’t want it to be too big and act as a huge sail. Finally, remember to try them on and visit a few retailers.
